The Ray Pavilion
In this project, we had to synthesize principles from precedent research and create a new set of rules for the design. With the rules, we had to construct a pavilion for observation of the sky.
The main inspiration for the design came from the movement of a manta ray. Like its long floppy wings, the ray pavilion has a parabolic roof shape. As the main idea of the project was to be able to observe the sky, the structure is embodied by glass walls and a long ceiling window. The glass allows the light to enter and enliven the space.
